South Everett Route 12 Will Be Free By Order of Mayor

In response to the closure of Fred Meyer, Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin announced a six-month free transit route for residents along Casino Road. The free Route 12 will connect riders to essential grocery and retail locations, including Walmart and Trader Joe's. Franklin emphasized the city's commitment to assist impacted residents by providing access to necessary amenities. The route connects to the Everett Mall Station, where a free shuttle will transport riders to Walmart. This initiative highlights the city’s ability to respond quickly to urgent community needs.

Additionally, Sound Transit has proposed an express bus service to improve transit options during times when Link light rail is not operational. Franklin's announcement came during a City Council meeting, showcasing local governance's proactive stance. The initiative aims to alleviate transportation barriers for residents in the affected areas.
