The Everett Fire Department responded to a HazMat incident at Naval Station Everett on September 15, triggered by the discovery of a suspicious package in the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit health clinic. Evacuated individuals underwent immediate decontamination as first responders evaluated their health, revealing no signs of illness among the exposed. Some personnel were transported to a local hospital for precautionary evaluation, reflecting the seriousness of the response. A third alarm HazMat response was initiated to bolster resources, resulting in a unified command with Naval Station Everett's personnel. The Snohomish County Hazardous Materials Response Team later assessed the package, confirming its contents as a nonhazardous inorganic material.

The station temporarily closed but reopened shortly after the substance was classified as safe. This incident underscores the importance of swift emergency response and collaboration among regional fire agencies.
