Vespa Driver Died on I-5 Early this Morning

A 63-year-old Vespa driver died early Wednesday after being struck by a white Isuzu NQR truck on I-5 near Everett Mall Way. The collision occurred around 3:30 AM when the Vespa, which was reportedly on the shoulder, had its rider in lane three. The driver of the truck, a 57-year-old from Lake Stevens, hit the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet. Washington State Patrol's report noted that the truck came to rest on the right shoulder while the rider landed in lane four. The highway remained partially blocked for four-and-a-half hours during the investigation, raising concerns about traffic safety.

This incident emphasizes the need for heightened awareness among drivers regarding vulnerable road users like motorcyclists. Motorcycle fatalities often increase during peak travel seasons, underscoring the importance of safety measures.
