Everett Police Officer Wounded In Shooting, A Suspect Is Dead, SMART Investigation Closes Evergreen Way
An Everett Police officer sustained a gunshot wound to the head during a confrontation with a suspect early Wednesday morning in south Everett, Washington. The officer was shot after responding to a robbery in the 7600 block of Evergreen Way. Following the shooting, another officer confronted the suspect, who was subsequently shot and found deceased nearby. The injured officer is currently in stable condition at Providence Regional Medical Center. The Snohomish County Multi Agency Response Team (SMART) is investigating the incident, leading to significant road closures in the area.
Evergreen Way is closed between Casino Road and Holly Drive, and Holly Drive is also closed in the vicinity. Three additional suspects, who fled the initial robbery scene, remain unaccounted for. Investigators are looking into both the Fred Meyer gas station, where the officer was shot, and the Car Hop dealership parking lot, where the suspect was found.
