Reptile Zoo in Monroe to Close in October

The Reptile Zoo in Monroe, WA, will close its doors for good on October 18 after nearly 30 years of operation. Owners Scott Petersen and April Jackson cited the COVID-19 pandemic's lasting impact as a significant factor in their decision to shut down. Known for their educational reptile shows, the zoo has attracted families from across Snohomish County, featuring unique reptiles such as an albino alligator and a two-headed turtle. The business is currently for sale at $385,000, but does not include the building, requiring potential buyers to arrange a lease. If no buyer is found by September 15, the zoo will put many of its animals up for adoption.

The Reptile Man and Reptile Lady will continue to conduct shows in the community, preserving their educational mission. The closure serves as a reminder to support local businesses struggling in the wake of the pandemic.
