Cooking Fire on Skyline Drive in Everett
A stovetop grease fire broke out on August 8 in the 200 block of Skyline Drive, displacing six residents in Everett. The American Red Cross Northwest Region is responding to assist those affected and their pets. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident. Cooking fires are a significant concern, as they are the leading cause of home fires and related injuries. Grease fires, in particular, pose a unique danger; residents are advised to smother them using a lid and to turn off the heat.
Water should never be used to extinguish grease fires, as it can exacerbate the situation. If the fire grows uncontrollable, evacuating the premises and calling 911 is essential. This incident underscores the importance of fire safety awareness, especially in the kitchen.
