Suspect Booked for Controlled Substance Homicide Following Fatal Overdose Investigation

On May 4, 2025, Everett police officers discovered a woman in her 40s dead from an overdose in her apartment, with drug paraphernalia found nearby. Surveillance footage revealed that a known drug dealer sold her narcotics shortly before her death. The Everett Police Department's Community Response Team took the lead in the investigation, which ultimately linked the dealer to her death. On June 23, 2025, police contacted the suspect while he was in the Snohomish County Jail on unrelated charges. After interviewing him, officers charged him with controlled substance homicide.

Chief John DeRousse emphasized the challenges of drug investigations but praised the team's efforts in collecting evidence. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding drug-related fatalities and the accountability of those supplying narcotics.
