2025 Ellensburg Arts Commission Annual Awards Announced
The Ellensburg Arts Commission announced the 2025 award recipients, recognizing significant contributions to the local arts scene. Kara Hunnicutt, former director of the Ellensburg High School Orchestra, received the City Arts Treasure Award for her dedication to music education and her influence on students. Under her leadership, EHS students excelled in competitions and many pursued advanced music studies. Mike McCloskey, a history teacher and manager of the Morgan Performing Arts Center, earned the Arts Advocate Award for his extensive work in promoting the arts within the community. His efforts include designing lighting for productions and teaching students about lighting design.
A public ceremony will honor both recipients on November 12, 2025, at The Ink in Ellensburg. The Ellensburg Arts Commission aims to foster creativity and drive economic growth through the arts. This recognition highlights the vital role of local artists and advocates in enriching the community’s cultural landscape.
