City Launches Tree Survey

Ellensburg, WALocal News

The City of Ellensburg has launched a survey to gather input from residents for its 20-year Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP), focusing on tree health and urban canopy expansion. Supported by grants from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the USDA Forest Service, the initiative aims to ensure all neighborhoods benefit from an enhanced urban forest. The survey, which takes about five minutes to complete, will be available until August 31, 2025, at www. ellensburgwa. gov/treesurvey.

By participating, residents can help shape the future of Ellensburg's urban forest management. The city will also update its Tree Ordinance and Development Standards as part of this comprehensive plan. Questions regarding the survey can be directed to the Public Works Department at (509) 962-7230. This project reflects a commitment to sustainability and community involvement, emphasizing the importance of trees in urban environments. A thriving urban forest can improve air quality, provide shade, and enhance the overall beauty of the city.
