Ellensburg Arts Commission to Hold Art Unveiling Ceremony

The Ellensburg Arts Commission will unveil “Harmonize,” a sculpture by local artist Crista Ann Ames, on August 1, 2025, during the First Friday Art Walk at Unity Park. The commission allocated $45,000 for the sculpture, which depicts two clasped hands symbolizing unity and connection, decorated with carvings representing the Kittitas Valley's flora and fauna. Arts Commission Chair Alex Eyre highlighted the artwork's complexity and tactile design, indicating its potential to enhance the park's status as a community hub. The commission's mission includes supporting local artists and enriching the arts scene to drive economic growth. The unveiling ceremony will provide Spanish and ASL interpretation to ensure inclusivity.

Unity Park has already served as a venue for various community activities and events. Eyre expressed hope that “Harmonize” will further enrich the experience for visitors. This initiative underscores the importance of public art in fostering community engagement and connection.
