Man' in black standing over fatally shot victim was actually teen now in custody SDPD

A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged with the murder of 73-year-old Diosado Gumbayan, who was shot dead in City Heights earlier this week. Officers discovered Gumbayan's body on Olive Street after responding to gunshot reports around 3:20 a. m. Tuesday. A witness reported hearing a single shot and observed a man dressed in black standing over the victim.

The teen fled the scene and was apprehended Thursday near Euclid Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard. Police have not yet clarified whether the shooting was premeditated or a random act of violence.
