3 people found in drainage tube near US-Mexico Border, Cal Fire says

Three individuals trying to enter the U. S. illegally were rescued from a drainage tube near Otay Mesa on Friday morning. Cal Fire San Diego responded to a call around 7:50 a. m.

and found the individuals trapped by razor wire that obstructed access to the tube. Firefighters cut through the wire, enabling the individuals to exit uninjured. U. S. Border Patrol clarified that the individuals were not stuck but had refused to leave the tube voluntarily.

After a medical assessment confirmed no injuries, they were taken into custody for processing. Officials highlighted the dangers of crossing through confined spaces, citing risks from hazardous gases. Cal Fire Captain Mike Cornette emphasized the need for proper monitoring equipment in such situations. This incident underscores ongoing challenges at the U. S.
