Lengthy daytime closure scheduled Saturday on busy stretch of state Route 163
The California Department of Transportation warns drivers of significant delays on state Route 163 due to scheduled maintenance on Saturday. All lanes will close from 6 a. m. to 4 p. m.
between Interstate 8 and Interstate 5 for trash collection, tree trimming, brush removal, and road repairs. Eastbound and westbound I-8 ramps to southbound SR-163, as well as Washington Street and Robinson Avenue on-ramps, will also be shut down. Officials suggest that westbound I-8 drivers use the southbound I-5 connector ramp as an alternative route. Eastbound motorists should take the southbound Interstate 805 connector instead. The work is subject to change based on weather and accidents.
This maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and infrastructure in the region. Motorists are advised to plan their travels to minimize inconvenience.
