US fugitive who killed Tijuana officer is arrested Mexican law enforcement
César Moisés Hernández, a convicted murderer and fugitive, has been arrested in Tijuana, Mexico, following a meticulously planned operation dubbed "Gracela. " This operation was spearheaded by the State Investigation Agency, collaborating closely with the National Defense's special operations group to ensure public safety. Utilizing advanced intelligence and technology, authorities tracked Hernández to a wooden room in the Lomas de Matamoros neighborhood. He is now facing criminal proceedings for the murder of police commander Abigail Esparza Reyes, who tragically lost her life during the initial attempt to capture him. More than 50 officers participated in this large-scale operation, underscoring the seriousness of the threat posed by Hernández.
The fugitive had previously escaped from custody after barricading himself and firing at officers during his capture attempt in April. Hernández had fled from a court appearance in California and was serving an 80-year sentence for first-degree murder.
