Social Media Comedian Accused of Supplying Fentanyl to Overdose Victim
Michael Steen II, widely known as "Yung Poppy," was arrested in San Diego County this summer, accused of supplying drugs that may have caused a woman's fatal overdose. The victim, found dead in her Ramona home, had heroin and counterfeit Oxycodone pills containing fentanyl in her possession. Investigators uncovered a text conversation that indicated she had met with "Yung P" to buy the pills. The San Diego Police Department's Narcotics Task Force initiated an undercover operation, resulting in Steen's arrest after a drug transaction involving Oxycodone pills. In Steen's vehicle, authorities discovered 144 additional pills, marijuana, and over $8,300 in cash.
This incident raises critical concerns about the influence social media figures have on drug culture and distribution. A former neighbor described Steen as ambitious, noting frequent disturbances at his apartment. This case serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with drug use and the responsibilities of influencers.
