Four suspects, including a 16-year-old boy, were arrested for allegedly attempting to murder a 17-year-old at Spencer's store in Parkway Plaza, El Cajon. The confrontation occurred around 3 p. m. Tuesday, during which one assailant pointed a handgun at the victim but could not fire due to a jam. El Cajon Police Department identified the suspects through surveillance footage and located them nearby later that afternoon.

Officers found two handguns in the minor's apartment, one of which matched the weapon used in the assault and was jammed with a round still chambered. The suspects were booked on charges of conspiracy, attempted murder, and firearm offenses, with three of them currently on probation for prior gun-related crimes. This incident underscores ongoing concerns regarding youth violence and illegal firearm access in local communities. The police department's swift response and use of surveillance technology were crucial in apprehending the suspects. Authorities are now focusing on preventive measures to address the rising trend of youth involvement in violent crimes.
