The civic engagement initiative “What Should Edmonds Be? ” revealed strong community support for various proposals during a presentation to the City Council by Keep Edmonds Vibrant! on May 27. With nearly 600 participants casting 43,000 votes, the initiative provided valuable insights into residents’ priorities. The report highlights that 92% of participants want to preserve public amenities such as parks and cultural centers, while 78% agree that public safety should be prioritized.

Furthermore, 70% support the introduction of school zone speeding cameras as a revenue-generating measure. These findings resonate with the City’s 2024 EMC survey, suggesting a community readiness for change. In light of these results, city leaders are urged to implement these ideas for Edmonds' future. This initiative reflects a collective effort to articulate the community's vision for a vibrant city. Mackey Guenther, a co-organizer of the initiative, expressed gratitude to participants for their contributions.
