Coaches, fitness experts gather at strength and conditioning conference at Edmonds College

The 2025 NSCA Northwest Region Conference at Edmonds College provided a platform for coaches and fitness professionals to explore effective facility design and exercise programming for seniors. Led by Catherine King and Federick Brooks, the conference facilitated learning among personal trainers, physiotherapists, and nutritionists. Brooks, a former U. S. Marine and exercise science graduate, noted the importance of facility layout to optimize training efficiency.

Speakers included Seattle Sounders FC Coach Megan Young and sports dietitian Emily Edison, who shared insights on adapting fitness programs. Tim Vagen, a fitness manager, stressed the significance of minor adjustments in training programs to accommodate seniors' varying conditions. The event was supported by an $8,800 tourism grant from Snohomish County, which helped cover costs. Brooks expressed pride in presenting at the conference, marking a milestone in his professional journey. The conference underscored the growing recognition of tailored fitness solutions for diverse populations.
