S. Barbara Hilyer will present her book "Legacy Lost: Passing Across the Color Line" at the Edmonds Waterfront Center on June 12, exploring themes of race and identity. After her father's death, Hilyer uncovered a family secret that connected her to her African American roots, prompting a journey through various states to research her extended family. Her aunt, a prominent African American woman in politics, played a pivotal role in reshaping Hilyer's perspective on race. The event, co-sponsored by Edmonds Bookshop and the My Neighborhood News Network, will include accommodations for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Doors open at 6 p. m. , with the event starting at 6:30 p. m. , and tickets are available for $7.
