Man killed in early morning crash near I-5 in Lynnwood

A tragic collision on I-5 in Lynnwood early Thursday morning resulted in the death of 41-year-old Matthew C. Connelly. The accident occurred around 3:56 a. m. when Connelly's 2008 Toyota Highlander veered off the road, crossed multiple lanes, and struck a left guardrail.

Upon arrival, investigators found Connelly had not been wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The heavily damaged SUV was removed by a tow truck, and authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved. State troopers are actively investigating the incident, focusing on whether drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the crash. The Washington State Patrol encourages anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward with information. Traffic safety remains a critical concern, particularly regarding seatbelt use and driving under the influence.
