Rob English, Edmonds City Engineer for nearly 17 years, officially left his position on April 16 to become the capital division manager for the City of Kirkland. During a recent city council meeting, officials praised his dedication and significant contributions to various city projects. Councilmember Vivian Olson emphasized the loss to Edmonds, while others highlighted his responsiveness and commitment to quality work. English expressed pride in projects like the Main Street improvements and the Highway 99 revitalization, which aimed to enhance safety and aesthetics. He also recognized the efforts of his team in securing transportation grants, crediting City Transportation Engineer Bertrand Haus for the success.

English's work often involved crucial yet less visible utility maintenance and replacement projects. He served under five mayors since starting in 2008 and has a background in engineering from previous roles in Fresno and Kenmore. His departure signifies a notable change in Edmonds' engineering leadership.
