In light of the increasing COVID-19 cases in Snohomish County, the City of Edmonds has announced the closure of its city buildings to the public as of September 3, 2021. Mayor Nelson emphasized the importance of prioritizing public safety, acknowledging that these closures might inconvenience residents. Despite the closures, city staff will continue to support the community through email, phone, and online services, ensuring that essential functions remain operational. The Edmonds Police Department will modify its services, allowing emergency contact through lobby phones while pausing new Concealed Pistol Licenses and fingerprint appointments. Recreation activities at the Frances Anderson Center are canceled for the months of September and October, although outdoor programs will still be allowed.

Utility payments can be made conveniently online or through a drop box located outside City Hall. Additionally, all City Council and commission meetings will revert to virtual platforms, allowing residents to participate safely. This proactive measure reflects the city's commitment to safeguarding public health amid the ongoing pandemic challenges.
