Civic Park Public Art Project Community Meeting

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds is inviting residents to a community meeting on February 24, 2022, at 6:00 PM via Zoom to discuss the Civic Park Public Art Project. Artist Clark Wiegman, chosen through a competitive selection process, will present his engaging concept, “Cascadia, Seawall and Lifeboat. ” The design features a suspended three-dimensional sculpture and a two-dimensional artwork on the restroom wall, emphasizing light and vibrant colors to create a strong visual impact. Wiegman’s approach is informed by extensive background research, community outreach, and conversations with locals, ensuring the artwork resonates with Edmonds' unique environment and culture. His goal is to foster a connection between viewers and the natural world, encouraging contemplation of their place within it.

Attendees will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and questions during the meeting via the Zoom Chat function. Wiegman will refine his design for presentation to the Edmonds Arts Commission in March and seek City Council approval later this spring. This initiative not only enhances civic engagement but also contributes to Edmonds' vibrant cultural landscape.
