Planned closures on the light rail 1 Line start Nov. 8

Edmonds, WALocal News

Sound Transit will implement a series of service suspensions on the 1 Line starting Nov. 8 to conduct critical repairs and maintenance. The first suspension will occur between U District and Westlake from the start of service until 2 p. m. , with bus replacements for train service.

Additional closures will happen on Nov. 16 for rail replacement, as well as from Nov. 18-20 and Dec. 2-4 for expanded overnight maintenance. On several nights in December, service will be suspended between Capitol Hill and Stadium for advanced signaling installation in the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel.

Riders should prepare for delays and utilize service alerts for updates. The maintenance work is part of Sound Transit’s strategy to improve service reliability and safety, with ongoing efforts expected to last until January 2026. Sound Transit encourages passengers to sign up for email alerts to stay informed about schedule changes. These improvements aim to enhance the overall rider experience on the light rail system.
