Plans for the Edmonds Commons mixed-use building are advancing near Edmonds College, featuring a three-story structure with 23 residential units and 69 parking spaces. The design includes eight three-bedroom, 13 two-bedroom apartments, and two studio units, along with 2,713 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor. Property owner Ajay Sikka mentioned that the choice of business for the commercial area remains undecided, but a coffee shop or small business is a possibility. Regarding affordable housing, Sikka assured that they will comply with city regulations, with more specifics expected as the project progresses through city approvals. The timeline for completion is contingent on the city’s review process, and Sikka expressed a desire to start construction next year.

This development aims to address housing needs in the area, particularly for students at Edmonds College. The project highlights the ongoing efforts to enhance local infrastructure and provide more living options. Increased student housing proximity to the college could significantly impact the local economy and community dynamics.
