Edmonds Port Commission focuses on long-term planning, budgets and projects at Sept. 30 meeting
Port of Edmonds commissioners resumed long-term planning discussions, with Finance Director Tsz Yan Brady presenting a draft budget for 2026 and announcing her departure after two years. The port's financial outlook remains positive, with operating revenues projected to exceed expenses, resulting in a net income of $1 million in 2026. Facilities Director Brian Menard revealed that Brumfield Construction won the bid for the mid-marina breakwater repair project at $255,000, significantly under the $500,000 estimate. This project, funded by a $412,000 state grant, aims to extend the lifespan of the breakwater, critical for protecting the waterfront. Public hearings for the draft budget and updates to the Comprehensive Scheme of Harbor Improvements are set for November, allowing for community engagement.
Brady's tenure saw improvements in financial documentation and operational efficiency, earning her commendations from Executive Director Brandon Baker and port commissioners. The port plans to evaluate future borrowing as cash reserves may become constrained by 2036. The finance director position has been posted following her resignation.
