Denver hosts massive psychedelics conference

Denver, COLocal News

The Psychedelic Science 2025 conference is underway in Denver, featuring over 7,000 attendees and more than 500 speakers discussing various aspects of psychedelics. Colorado's legal framework for recreational psychedelic use sets a precedent for advocates across the country. This five-day event aims to legitimize the research and therapeutic potential of psychedelics, especially as other states experience stalled legalization efforts. Notably, the FDA rejected the use of ecstasy for PTSD treatment last year, reflecting caution in the regulatory landscape. Rick Doblin, founder of MAPS, remarks on a more tempered outlook regarding psychedelics since the previous conference.

MAPS plans to engage over 20 lawmakers, emphasizing their commitment to responsible use. Attendees can explore topics ranging from therapy to ethics and safety in psychedelic use. The conference runs from June 16-20 at the Colorado Convention Center.
