"No Kings" protest draws thousands to downtown Denver

Denver, COLocal News

Thousands gathered in downtown Denver for the "No Kings" protest, coinciding with President Trump's military parade in Washington, D. C. The event marked one of the largest anti-Trump demonstrations in Denver since the 2017 Women's March, with organizers claiming it was the largest single-day protest since Trump began his second term. Participants marched a mile from the Capitol, demonstrating a strong anti-Trump sentiment while also incorporating various political messages, including pro-Palestinian and anti-police chants. The Colorado Palestine Coalition played a significant role in organizing some of the marchers.

The protest was peaceful, with demonstrators thanking police for facilitating the march. Colorado Governor Jared Polis emphasized the need to reject divisive politics in light of recent targeted attacks on Democratic legislators in Minnesota. The Denver Party for Socialism and Liberation plans to host an additional protest later in the day. These events reflect ongoing political tensions and community responses to national issues.
