Boulder firebombing suspect appears in federal court
Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, faced federal court on Friday for charges related to a violent attack on demonstrators supporting Palestinian hostages in Boulder, Colorado. The incident involved throwing Molotov cocktails, resulting in injuries to at least 15 individuals, with victims ranging in age from 25 to 88. Soliman, who allegedly stated he wanted to kill "all Zionist people," has been detained on a $10 million cash bond since his arrest following the attack. Magistrate Judge Timothy P. O'Hara briefed Soliman on the hate crime charge and the possibility of a life sentence he faces.
In addition to federal charges, Soliman faces 118 counts in state court, including 28 counts of attempted first-degree murder. The Boulder Police Chief confirmed that all victims are expected to survive. The attack occurred near the Boulder County courthouse, where demonstrators gathered to advocate for the release of hostages held by Hamas. A preliminary examination in federal court is scheduled for June 18 before Magistrate Judge Kathryn A. Starnella.
