Protesters Confront Boebert and Evans Over Medicaid Cuts in Denver Press Conference

Denver, COLocal News

U. S. Representatives Lauren Boebert and Gabe Evans encountered fierce protests during a May 29 press conference in Denver, where they celebrated the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The bill, which passed the House on May 22, threatens to cut Medicaid funding, potentially impacting 10. 3 million people nationwide.

Protesters, including Dawn Caldwell, expressed fears that the bill could jeopardize the health and lives of vulnerable individuals, particularly those with disabilities. Caldwell emphasized the burdensome processes that would arise from more frequent eligibility checks, which could push eligible users off Medicaid. Nearly 30% of constituents in Evans's district and 16% in Boebert's district rely on Medicaid, making the bill's implications particularly significant for Colorado. The proposed legislation has ignited local opposition due to its potential to severely affect health care access for many residents.
