Phil Weiser on TABOR, the Labor Peace Act and his primary against Michael Bennet

Denver, COLocal News

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser highlighted the need to change the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR) cap on government growth and spending to better fund state programs during his remarks at the Colorado SunFest event. He emphasized the necessity of public input in determining how to implement these changes, stating that true leadership involves listening to constituents. Weiser also commented on the Labor Peace Act, indicating that while he believes some of its outdated requirements should be updated, he did not fully endorse a recent proposal to eliminate the 75% worker approval requirement for union negotiations. Furthermore, he opposed a Republican proposal for a federal moratorium on state artificial intelligence laws, arguing that states should be allowed to innovate in this area. Weiser acknowledged the need for adjustments to Colorado's upcoming AI law, which he described as problematic.

He also discussed the increasing demands on his office due to Trump-related legal issues, requesting additional resources from the legislature to cope with the workload.
