Hundreds stranded at Denver International Airport as A Line fails, replacement buses fall short

Denver, COLocal News

RTD's suspension of A Line train service at Denver International Airport left hundreds of travelers stranded early Tuesday morning. Many passengers, delayed by weather issues, arrived late only to find insufficient bus replacements, with only two buses available for a large crowd. The surge pricing for rideshares reached between $90 and $130, significantly higher than the typical A Line fare. RTD spokesperson Tina Jaquez explained that the service interruption stemmed from communications issues with signal equipment, and they dispatched buses as quickly as possible. However, travelers criticized the agency for not anticipating the high demand and providing more buses.

With other public transit options already closed for the night, many were left with no choice but to pay exorbitant rideshare fees. The A Line shutdown continued into Tuesday, compounding the travel woes for those arriving at the airport.
