Second Man Charged In Officer Krystal Riveras Accidental Shooting Death, Police Say

Jaylin Arnold, 27, has been charged with multiple felonies, including armed violence, in connection to the accidental shooting death of Officer Krystal Rivera. The incident occurred on June 5 when Rivera was fatally shot by her partner during a foot chase of Arnold into an apartment building. Authorities reported that a second man, Adrian Rucker, aimed a gun at the officers, leading to the tragic accident. Rivera, 36, was a four-year veteran of the police department and a mother to a young daughter. After being shot in the back, Rivera was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Arnold was arrested while in possession of drugs and is being held in jail following his court appearance. Rivera's funeral is set for Wednesday, with community leaders highlighting the risks officers take in their duties. Police Supt. Larry Snelling emphasized the need for public support and understanding of the dangers faced by law enforcement.
