City Seeks Redevelopment Proposals for More Than 400 Vacant Properties

Chicago, ILLocal News

Starting April 1, the City of Chicago will open applications for over 400 parcels of vacant land, aimed at spurring redevelopment and affordable housing initiatives. This includes 54 lots specifically designated for Missing Middle housing and a CTA site for mixed-income housing in Lake View. Mayor Brandon Johnson announced the properties, collectively valued at $26 million, as prime investment opportunities in the city. The initiative emphasizes collaboration among public and private sectors, particularly during Fair Housing Month. Development incentives such as financial assistance of up to $150,000 per unit and nominal lot sales are designed to attract potential buyers.

Applications for various sites must be submitted by May 15 and June 30, 2025, depending on the property. The effort reflects the city's holistic approach to revitalizing neighborhoods and addressing housing needs. For more information, interested parties can visit ChiBlockBuilder. com.
