A 17-year-old boy has been charged with multiple serious offenses, including armed robberies on CTA trains and a carjacking in Chicago's Near West Side and North Lawndale. According to police, he threatened a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy at gunpoint on a Blue Line train on March 21. Less than an hour later, he allegedly stole a car from a 57-year-old man in a nearby neighborhood. Earlier in March, he was also accused of robbing two men, aged 25 and 38, on another Blue Line train. The boy's arrest on Thursday has drawn attention to the rising crime rates and safety concerns associated with public transportation in the city.

He faces three felony counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, and one count of aggravated vehicular hijacking. This case highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures on public transport to protect commuters.
