A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued by the City of Chicago, warning residents of dangerously low wind chills that could reach as low as -20°. This advisory is in effect from 9 p. m. on February 17 until noon on February 18, 2025, as confirmed by the National Weather Service. Such severe wind chills pose a serious risk, potentially causing frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

To ensure safety, the City is encouraging residents to prepare adequately by dressing warmly and utilizing the more than 200 warming centers available throughout Chicago. The Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) is actively monitoring weather conditions and will provide updates to the public as necessary.
