Chicago, ILLocal News

The recent openings of two Hudson travel convenience stores and a Fannie May chocolate shop at Chicago Midway International Airport signify a major step in the airport's ongoing redevelopment. Operated by Hudson, a leader in travel retail, these stores will provide travelers with a wide selection of snacks, beverages, and local products, enhancing their overall experience. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and CDA Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee welcomed these additions as a reflection of the city's dedication to supporting local businesses and creating equitable opportunities. Since 2017, the Midway Partnership has invested over $75 million, introducing more than 70 new dining and retail brands to the airport and expanding the concessions area significantly.

The new Hudson locations are situated in Baggage Claim and Concourse C, while Fannie May is located in Concourse A, ensuring accessibility for travelers. This initiative is expected to double the number of concessions jobs from 700 to 1,400, demonstrating a strong commitment to economic growth. The focus remains on creating a stress-free travel experience that connects passengers to Chicago's rich culture and flavors. With over 56% participation from Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, the program stands out for its inclusivity and community focus.
