Mayor Brandon Johnson announced on September 25, 2024, that two Chicago-based organizations, the Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) and Revolution Workshop, will collectively receive nearly $7 million in federal grants to bolster job training and workforce development. The U. S. Department of Labor awarded these funds as part of the Building Pathways to Infrastructure Jobs Grant Program, aiming to improve job quality and expand access to good-paying jobs in the city. JARC will utilize $4.

8 million to enhance its workforce training initiatives, focusing on underserved communities and providing hands-on skills training in manufacturing and construction. Simultaneously, Revolution Workshop will receive $2 million to support its pre-apprenticeship programs, catering to individuals impacted by the criminal justice system and those from low-income communities. Mayor Johnson highlighted the significance of these grants in empowering Chicagoans with the necessary skills to thrive in growing job sectors. This funding is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s broader strategy to enhance worker-focused training programs that include industry and worker voices.
