North DuSable Lake Shore Drive Resurfacing: Week of September 22nd

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced that the resurfacing of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive will begin on September 23, 2024, after being postponed from its original start date of September 22 due to inclement weather. The resurfacing project will require full closures of all southbound lanes between Fullerton Avenue and LaSalle Drive starting at 6:00 p. m. on September 22, with all lanes expected to reopen by 6:00 a. m.

the following day. From September 23 to September 26, the southbound lanes will be reduced to one lane during the day, and all lanes will close again at 9:00 p. m. for ongoing work. The CDOT has also provided alternative routes for drivers, including using Inner Lake Shore Drive to detour traffic.

These measures are in place to ensure the safety and efficiency of the resurfacing operations. The project is anticipated to be completed by late October, improving the roadway conditions for the thousands of commuters who rely on this route. This announcement follows the city’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure improvement and public safety.
