State-of-the-Art Recording Facilities Proposed for Stockyards Bank Site

Chicago, ILLocal News

The City of Chicago has revealed an ambitious proposal to establish an $80 million recording complex at the historic Stockyards Bank site, led by Third Coast Music. Dubbed the "Scoring Stage," this state-of-the-art facility will be capable of hosting musical ensembles of up to 100 musicians, filling a crucial void in the city's recording capabilities. It will offer additional spaces for post-production, special events, and educational programs, effectively making it a cultural hub. The development is aimed at strengthening Chicago's position in the film, television, and music industries, which have long faced challenges due to the lack of suitable local recording spaces for large groups. The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) emphasized the project's potential impact on the local economy and cultural scene.

This initiative is expected to attract artists and productions, enhancing the city's reputation as a significant player in the entertainment sector. Furthermore, the complex will include a Chicago music museum, adding an educational component to the project. Overall, the proposal marks a significant step forward in revitalizing the New City area and promoting the local music industry.
