Riot Fest in Douglass Park and the Chicago Football Classic Headline a Busy Chicago Weekend

Chicago, ILLocal News

Chicago's Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) is gearing up for a busy weekend with the annual Riot Fest and the Chicago Football Classic, emphasizing the need for public vigilance. Running from September 20 to September 22, Riot Fest will take place in Douglass Park, featuring a lineup of musical acts across multiple stages. The OEMC is coordinating citywide safety measures to handle the expected influx of attendees, including monitoring traffic and weather conditions from their Operations Center. They remind residents to report any suspicious activity, especially in crowded areas, as part of the national "If You See Something, Say Something™" campaign aimed at enhancing public safety. The OEMC encourages the use of their app, which provides real-time updates and safety information.

Public transportation is strongly advised for those attending the festival, with specific drop-off points for taxis and rideshare services. As the city prepares for these events, the OEMC will deploy Traffic Control Aides to manage traffic flow and ensure a secure environment for all. Residents are reminded to stay aware of their surroundings and plan their routes in advance.
