The City of Chicago has officially announced the lineup for the highly anticipated 2024 World Music Festival, scheduled to run from September 20 to 29. This festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of global music, featuring 31 artists hailing from 16 different countries. Over the course of 10 days, attendees can enjoy free performances at 11 venues across the city, fostering an environment of cultural exchange and appreciation. Mayor Brandon Johnson remarked that the festival is not just about music, but also about celebrating shared humanity through diverse cultural expressions. DCASE Commissioner Clinée Hedspeth echoed this sentiment, noting the festival's ability to connect residents and visitors with a variety of musical genres and artists.

Highlighting the festival's significance, the Ragamala event will present the largest all-night showcase of Indian classical music in the U. S. at the Chicago Cultural Center. In addition, the festival includes a new immersive performance experience called Global Carnival, featuring Afro-Brazilian and New Orleans cultural influences.
