The City of Chicago's Department of Family Services and Support (DFSS) has extended the application deadline for its 2024 Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Scholarship Program to September 20, 2024. This initiative, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, offers $230,000 in scholarships aimed at supporting full-time students in continuing education or vocational training programs. Scholarships will range from $1,000 to $5,000, intended to help cover expenses such as tuition, books, and other educational costs. Commissioner Brandie Knazze expressed enthusiasm for the program, highlighting how financial support can help young adults achieve their academic aspirations and career goals. To be eligible, applicants must reside in the City of Chicago, meet specific income requirements, and provide proof of enrollment in an accredited institution.
