The Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection has announced the second annual Chi Food Truck Fest Taco Throwdown, scheduled for September 13, 2024, at Daley Plaza. This culinary competition allows attendees to vote for their favorite taco from local food trucks, fostering community engagement and supporting small businesses. BACP Acting Commissioner Ivan Capifali stated that the event delivers a blend of flavor and fun, while also empowering local entrepreneurs. The Taco Throwdown will feature a wide array of taco options, from traditional carne asada to innovative vegetarian delights, catering to all tastes. The winner will be named the People’s Choice winner and announced via BACP's social media platforms, using the hashtag #ChiFoodTruckFest.

This event is part of the larger Chi Food Truck Fest, which runs every Friday from May 17 through October 4, showcasing the culinary talents of local food truck owners.
