North DuSable Lake Shore Drive Resurfacing Update: Week of September 8th

Chicago, ILLocal News

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced an update regarding the resurfacing of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, which will lead to significant traffic disruptions starting the afternoon of September 8, 2024. The project will involve full closures of all lanes between Hollywood Avenue and Lawrence Avenue, with a series of planned lane reductions and closures throughout the week. On Sunday, September 8, northbound lanes will be completely closed starting at 3:00 p. m. , while on subsequent days, both northbound and southbound lanes will face reductions and full closures during evening hours.

These closures are designed to facilitate necessary roadwork, ensuring a safer and more efficient driving experience once completed. CDOT anticipates that all work will be finalized by late October, minimizing the duration of disruptions for local commuters. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes and remain aware of changing traffic patterns during this construction period. This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to maintaining infrastructure and enhancing roadway safety.
