As Chicago prepares for a bustling weekend featuring the Chicago Bears' home opener and the Taste of Chicago festival, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) is calling on residents and visitors to remain vigilant. The OEMC warns of potential street closures and increased traffic, urging everyone to plan their travels accordingly. Monitoring events from its Operations Center, the OEMC will coordinate public safety resources to ensure a secure environment. The public is reminded to report any suspicious activity, especially in crowded areas, as part of the "If You See Something, Say Something™" initiative. With the Taste of Chicago running from September 6 to September 8 in Grant Park, attendees can look forward to a showcase of the city’s culinary diversity and live music.

Street closures will be in effect, and Traffic Control Aides will assist in managing the influx of visitors. Additionally, residents are encouraged to download the Chicago OEMC App for real-time updates and safety information. The OEMC will also provide emergency preparedness tips at their table during the festival.
