O'Hare International Airport has been named the most-connected airport in the United States by the Official Aviation Guide’s 2024 Megahubs Index, reinforcing its vital role in global travel. Ranked #1 in the U. S. and #9 globally, O'Hare's connectivity reflects its extensive network of nonstop flights to approximately 260 destinations worldwide. This recognition is significant in affirming Chicago's status as a major global city and a hub for commerce and travel.

Midway International Airport also made the list, ranking 22nd among U. S. airports, which further highlights Chicago's importance in the aviation industry. Mayor Brandon Johnson praised O'Hare's achievements, stating it is a testament to the dedication of airport staff and the city’s commitment to maintaining a competitive edge in aviation. The O'Hare 21 capital improvement program is currently underway to enhance capacity and improve the passenger experience.

O'Hare has consistently held the top spot in the OAG's rankings since 2017, with only a couple of exceptions in 2020 and 2021. This ongoing commitment to strategic planning and innovation ensures that O'Hare remains a vital economic engine for the region.
