Bronzeville Residents Urged To Support Black-Owned Businesses After 3 Spots Burglarized Overnight

Chicago, ILLocal News

Three Bronzeville businesses, including Sip & Savor and Shawn Michelle’s Homemade Ice Cream, were burglarized overnight on Friday. Entrepreneur Early Walker is calling on the community to support these businesses by offering free food and drinks, including ice cream for the first 100 customers at Shawn Michelle’s this Sunday. The break-in at Shawn Michelle’s involved suspects breaking a glass door and stealing cash registers and safes. In contrast, the thieves left empty-handed after targeting Sip & Savor and Ain’t She Sweet Cafe. Trez Pugh III, owner of Sip & Savor, expressed frustration over repeated burglaries, having experienced two robberies in September.

He highlighted the importance of supporting the community, as his business employs locals and helps vulnerable populations. Walker aims to shift focus from repairing damages to fostering a prosperous holiday season for local businesses. Both Walker and Pugh encourage anyone with information to assist in identifying the suspects.
