Weather Will Turn To 'Persistent Winter Pattern' Next Week
Chicago will soon transition from mild temperatures to a winter chill, with forecasts predicting a drop from 50 degrees to the 30s next week. National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Kluber emphasized that this change marks the end of the recent unseasonably warm weather. The city registered its first snowfall on November 9, and overall temperatures have been 2 degrees above normal. Kluber explained that a stable jet stream has allowed warmer air from the Pacific to dominate. However, the approach of winter will bring colder air down from Canada and the Arctic, leading to a persistent winter weather pattern.
Residents are encouraged to finish any outdoor activities before the colder conditions arrive. Historical data indicates that such temperature swings are common as Chicago transitions into winter. As the city braces for the chill, local meteorologists will continue to monitor the weather closely.
