A 26-year-old woman was critically injured after a man allegedly set her on fire during an argument on a CTA train in the Loop on Monday night. The incident occurred around 9:25 p. m. when the man, 45, poured a flammable liquid on the woman and ignited it. After the train stopped, he fled the scene, while the victim exited and collapsed.

Firefighters extinguished the flames before police arrived, and the woman was rushed to Stroger Hospital with severe burns. Authorities have detained a person of interest, but it remains unclear if it is the man involved in the attack. Chicago Police arson detectives are conducting a thorough investigation. This incident underscores ongoing safety concerns regarding public transportation in Chicago. Officials may need to implement additional measures to ensure the safety of commuters.
